Fan Control for Dell Laptops
Temperature thresholds for the cpu fan on a Dell Latitude E6530 to be defined in /etc/i8kmon.conf:
set config(0) {{0 0} -1 62 -1 62}
set config(1) {{1 1} 60 77 60 77}
set config(2) {{2 2} 75 87 75 87}
set config(3) {{3 3} 85 128 85 128}
The BIOS of some newer Dell laptops will override the speed you set unless you disable the BIOS control. The “dellfan” tool allows to enable or disable bios control of fans to use i8kmon instead:
